A clever move by Ukraine

Ukraine has accepted the ceasefire proposal of the USA. This pleases the USA and allows them to resume arms shipments. It forces Russia into a corner. The way Russia responds will show the USA and others whether it is really interested in peace as previously stated.

If Russia continues to attack Ukraine, and makes no effort to reach a ceasefire; it will show the USA and others that it cannot be trusted and that its previous words of peace were rubbish. Then the USA will know that Russia intends to keep on attacking Ukraine until it has taken the whole country. President Trump wants the killing to stop. If Russia is unwilling to stop the killing, then President Trump will take strong action to encourage it to do so.

Actions encouraging Russia to make peace

These might include sanctions which will damage the Russian economy. Or arming Ukraine to a point where serious damage could be inflicted on Russia if it doesn’t make peace. Russia needs to understand that continuing to kill Ukrainians will bring consequences so terrible that its best move is a ceasefire.
